Research Compliance and Export Controls

UALR Office of Research and Graduate Studies

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has a number of research projects of various types ongoing at any one time. The Research Compliance and Export Controls Offices of the university work to ensure that all research activities, both proposed and those already in place, are in compliance with federal, state and university policies. This work involves a number of areas including: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), Animal Subjects and Usage in Research and Teaching, Human Subject Research, and Conflict of Interest. For training, many of these areas make use of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) web services.

Also, UALR must address the issues of Export Controls in order to protect our intellectual property as well as to ensure compliance with US Governmental requirements on restricted information, related weapons proliferation, and other concerns. This affects certain equipment on campus, visitors to the campus, and hiring of faculty, staff, Post-Doctoral Fellows, and potentially others to the campus. Finally, all faculty, staff, or students who make travel plans using university sponsorship (funding) are required to undergo an export control based, in-person briefing prior to international travel.
