Eric Yarberry walked across the stage to receive his MA in Professional and Technical Writing on Saturday, May 12.

On Monday, May 14, Eric became the Director of Education and Training for World Services for the Blind.

“Being visually impaired and having had the opportunity to get a master’s degree and being able to find a job immediately after graduation is exciting, and I want to share that with others, particularly others with visual impairments,” Yarberry said.

“Teaching visually impaired individuals how to make it through school and get a job is a way we can build diversity in the university setting and in the private and public sector.”

Yarberry will manage vocational rehabilitation instructors at World Services for the Blind to ensure that they are providing quality services to the clients and reporting progress they are making to state services.

“Learning how to understand policy and procedure and being able to translate those procedures on the job will really help me in my new position,” Yarberry said. “Audience awareness will play a big role in my new job, and audience awareness was a key outcome of the MA program in Professional and Technical Writing at UALR.”

In addition to oversight and reporting, Yarberry will be training instructors and working out in the community to find employers to hire individuals with visual impairments. He will also conduct professional networking and recruit new clients and future employers.
