The smoking cessation program is available to University students, faculty, and staff.  The staff of UALR Health Services provide individualized assessments, treatment plans, and support for those individuals seeking assistance in their smoking cessation efforts.  There are limited resources to assist with prescription medications on a case-by-case basis.
Our excellent Wellness Program will continue to offer educational programs related to wellness in general.

12/9/08: These last few weeks have been a roller coaster ride. It seems as school starts to wind down that everyone expects more out of me. No one understands that I have so much going on that I may not handle any more. My husband complains that I am not doing enough around the house. Like I don’t know that! Duh! I am mentally exhausted. Have you ever been mentally exhausted? It’s worse than physi8cal exhaustion. My senses can’t focus clearly and I have to make my mind tell my body what to do. That’s why I have fallen off the bandwagon so much lately. Cigarettes make me feel awake and alert. I feel I can function better when I smoke. Every day is a struggle to stop smoking. Some days I want to some days I don’t. Today is a good day. First good day in weeks. I have been keeping myself busy doing Christmas stuff like fixing broken ornaments. I did a lot of housework and my need for a cigarette dwindled today! Yea!!! My only hope I that it will be the same tomorrow! I have been in the mood to run lately. Too bad the weather sucks! Candy doesn’t help, food isn’t the answer, and there is only so much housework I can do. Tomorrow is going to be a struggle.”
