Focus on the Field – Megan Holt

Megan Holt, Focus on the Field pictureLocated in North Little Rock, The Bridgeway has provided comprehensive healthcare services to Arkansas children, adolescents, and adults for over 30 years. Megan Holt, LCSW, started working with The Bridgeway during her concentration year internship at UALR. Megan now serves as a Field Instructor for BSW and MSW students and said that Bridgeway offers a unique experience for students due to the spectrum of services offered.

The Bridgeway is divided into units according to age groups and needs and intern activities vary according to the time of year and area of focus for each unit. Megan said that interns function in roles similar to regular employees but with more supervision. Though interns are assigned to a specific Field Instructor and unit, they are encouraged to shadow therapists in other units.

Interns at the Outpatient Adolescent unit may co-lead individual and family therapeutic interventions with their Field Instructor, gather psychosocial history information, and help write treatment plans. Interns at the Acute Adult unit assist in providing modified CBT-based therapy and medication management. Summer-block interns working in the Chemical-Dependency Rehabilitation day treatment program utilize acceptance-based and art therapy to serve adolescents and adults with substance-abuse issues. Megan said that The Bridgeway is committed to serving as a learning institution and advises potential interns to contact her for a tour of their campus.
