Jerry Crittenden Employee Book Scholarship

Applications for the 2024 Jerry Crittenden Employee Book Scholarship are open from February 8, 2024, to March 14, 2024. The winners will be announced in April 2024.

The Jerry Crittenden Employee Book Scholarship is a $75 book scholarship established by the Staff Senate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to recognize the service and dedication of UA Little Rock employees and to assist in furthering their education at UA Little Rock. The scholarship is awarded to benefits-eligible employees.

Other supporting information including a letter of recommendation from a supervisor or coworker is welcome but not required.

Scholarship Guidelines

Purpose

The scholarship fund was established by the Staff Senate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in memory of Jerry Crittenden, past president of the Staff Senate, to recognize the service and dedication of UA Little Rock employees and to assist in furthering their education at UA Little Rock.

Value of the Scholarship

Individual scholarships will be limited to a $75 UA Little Rock Bookstore voucher. Two scholarships will be awarded in an academic year.

Eligibility

Any recipient of the scholarship must be a benefits-eligible employee and registered in a course during the 2023-24 academic school year.

Award Criteria

The scholarship committee will make award decisions based primarily on the applicant’s service to UA Little Rock and the need for the scholarship. The following criteria will be among those considered:

1. Years of service to UA Little Rock
2. Financial need
3. GPA
4. Credit hours completed toward the degree sought
5. Future career plans

Administration

The members of the scholarship committee or awards ceremony committee, to be appointed by the Staff Senate, will administer the fund. The committee will consist of at least three members, none of whom are applying for the scholarship.
