Staff Senate Scholarship Guidelines
Nominations for the 2024 Staff Senate Scholarship will be available from February 8, 2024 to March 14, 2024. The recipients of the scholarships will be announced in April 2024.
Purpose
The scholarship fund was established by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Staff Senate. Its purpose is to recognize the service and dedication of UA Little Rock staff as well as assist in furthering staff members’ education at the university.
Value of the Scholarship
Individual scholarships will be limited to $1,000, and two scholarships will be awarded in an academic year.
Eligibility
Candidates must be a benefits-eligible employee. In addition, they cannot be a member of the committee choosing the recipients.
Award Criteria
Award decisions will be made based primarily on the applicant’s service to UA Little Rock; however, the committee will also consider their financial need for the scholarship. So, the following criteria will be among those considered:
- Years of service to UA Little Rock
- Financial need
- Credit hours completed toward the degree sought
- GPA
- Future career goals
In addition, other supporting information is welcome but not required. For example, a letter of recommendation from a supervisor or co-worker could be included.
Administration
The members of the scholarship committee or awards ceremony committee will administer the fund. This means that they will choose the recipients of the scholarships. Staff Senate will appoint at least three members to serve on the committee, and committee members are not eligible to receive a scholarship.
