This is such a wonderful organization, and I look forward to continuing the momentum of the current senators in addition to the enthusiasm and ideas of those newly elected! Staff Senate will be hosting a bone marrow drive for Leslie Harris who was diagnosed with Leukemia just before her son was born in September of 2011. The doctors do not expect that she will survive without a transplant, so it is imperative that a donor is found. Leslie’s mother is a former UALR staff member, and we are happy to have the opportunity to help Leslie find a donor.

The Staff Awards Ceremony will be held on April 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the DSC Ledbetter Halls A, B, and C. Thanks to the 2011-12 Staff Awards committee for their timely efforts. The committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, November 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Administration South Room 110.
Last year, Staff Senate provided 108 families with food baskets and gift cards to use during the Christmas holiday. We want to do it again! This year, we’ve introduced and online component to our popular Tea Cup Auction. Take a look! You might just find a great bargain.

It’s that time of year again where we celebrate the achievements of those among us. Staff are recognized for milestone years of service (five, ten, 15, 20, etc), graduation, and retirement. Staff scholarships are presented and winners of other staff awards are recognized.
Staff Achievement Awards are presented to three staff members who have excelled in community service, service to UALR, and personal growth. Each award carries an honorarium of $1,000 (before taxes).
The ceremony will be on Wednesday, April 13th at 10:30 a.m. in Ledbetter Rooms A, B, and C. Our speaker this year will be Dr. Trakenya Dobbins, director of the Academic Success Center. Reception will follow.
