Staff Awards Ceremony 2012

The UALR Staff Senate will host the 2012 Staff Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the Donaghey Student Center, Ledbetter Halls A,B, & C, with a reception to follow on the Upper Concourse.

Please plan on joining us and supporting your co-workers as they are being honored for their years of service to the university, earning a degree, receiving an award, or for recently retiring. It’s time to celebrate our university and the wonderful staff that makes a difference here at UALR.

FRIDAY the 13th BLOOD DRIVE!

Come join us today for our FRIDAY the 13th BLOOD DRIVE!

We have a Donation Station set up in the Housing Commons building as well as a Bloodmobile in front of the Housing Commons building. Come visit us on the hill from 10 am - 4 pm and help save 3 lives with your donation!

We will be playing movies for those waiting, music will be playing for those who are donating, and we will have popcorn and plenty of snacks!

If you would like to make an appointment, please email Rikki Turner and she will do her best to get you in at the time you requested.

Staff Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Deadline for Staff Scholarship nomination is Wednesday, March 28th at 5pm. So if you know a deserving staff member who is continuing education and shows dedication and service to UALR, nominate them for a scholarship!

Staff Achievement Award Nominations

It’s time again to nominate a staff member who has brought recognition to UALR through personal achievement, service to the University, and/or service to the community. A $1,000.00 cash award is given to the top employee in each of the following categories:

Personal Growth: Recognition will go to an individual whose scholarship, research or creative talent has been particularly outstanding.

Service to UALR: Recognition will go to an individual who is distinctive in service through committees, special events, implementation of creative ideas or support and encouragement of others.

Community Service: Recognition will go to an individual who has been particularly successful in organizing community events or had major achievements in civic, service, or specialty organizations/events.

Deadline for receipt of nominations is February 24, 2012. The awards will be presented at the Annual Staff Awards Ceremony on April 18, 2012.

The recipients are chosen by an objective screening committee. Eligible employees are full-time regular classified and non-faculty/non-classified employees holding no academic rank (must be eligible for Staff Senate). We strongly recommend submitting a thorough recommendation letter because nominees will not be supporting their own nominations this year.

Please take the time from your busy schedule to nominate a co-worker who is deserving of this recognition.

Students Spike Blood Drive Participation

The Staff Senate Blood Drive committee and volunteers from all over campus really have something to brag about.

This past Wednesday, November 30th, the Bloodmobile parked by the Student Center and the donation station set up in the Student Housing Commons Building serviced a combined 71 participants!

The donations collected will potentially save 192 lives over the holidays.

A special thanks goes to UALR students who made up over half of the participation!

Cindy Conger Talks Pre-retirement Planning

Pre-retirement planning can be the most anxious time in a person’s financial life. In a brief seminar, provided to UALR employees preparing to retire, Cindy Conger of Conger Wealth Management will show you how to get your finances in gear for your golden years.

Helping Hands Online Auction!

Last year, Staff Senate provided 108 families with food baskets and gift cards to use during the Christmas holiday. We want to do it again! This year, we’ve introduced and online component to our popular Tea Cup Auction. Take a look! You might just find a great bargain.
