Distance Learning @ UALR

Guidelines and Policies

UALR Distance Learning Guidelines point out some areas to which faculty should pay especial attention when employing information technology in their courses.

UALR Intellectual Property Policy ("Tech Enhanced Course Materials" or "TECM" Policy) assumes that the intellectual property rights for any TECM resides with the faculty member unless an agreement has been signed indicating otherwise. Any questions can be directed to the current Chair of the Faculty Senate Academic Computer and Technology Committee

Campus Support

Distance learning at UALR includes online courses, online programs, ITV courses, Telecourses, courses offered off campus.

Extended Programs is committed to easing the restrictions of commuting, employment, family, and other responsibilities on student’s time and ability to attend on-campus classes. Authored and taught by UALR faculty members, these alternatives fulfill the same curriculum objectives as classes taught on campus.

Extended Programs supports the development of a totally online course or program. The Application Form is available in PDF format. Extended Programs will fund proposals based on their merits and their match with its needs and priorities.

 

Distance Ed. Advisory Committee (DEAC) is charged with

  • strategic planning
  • researching technology and distance education
  • overseeing distance ed. activities at UALR
  • recommending guidelines, policies and procedures for UALR's distance education programs

DEAC consists of permanent members from the Provost's Office, STaR, Off-Campus Programs and Computing Services. Also, each college at UALR has two representatives who serve on the DEAC committee in staggered terms. The Dean of Extended Programs serves as the Chair.

 

Scholarly Technology and Resources' (STaR) mission is faculty support for teaching and learning with technology. Services include:

  • Tech Support

Computing Services provides UALR email, BOSS and WebCT desktop support to UALR students. Computing Services office is located in Old Student Union Building room 205.
