Welcome to LSAMP

The 2017 UA Little Rock LSAMP Scholars at the State LSAMP Research Conference

Arkansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (ARK-LSAMP) aims to increase the number of under-represented minority students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) areas.

The scholarship is funded by the National Science Foundation and is a collaborative alliance of nine Arkansas institutions that have a goal of increasing the pool of baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree graduates in STEM disciplines in Arkansas’ workforce.  lsamp state logo

The scholarship, which is $1,800 per year, includes membership in the LSAMP Learning Community and enrichment opportunities. We provide in-depth advising and mentoring, and opportunities to take courses with other outstanding STEM students, attend STEM workshops, seminars, and field trips, and live together in the STEM Scholars apartments.  We promote undergraduate research and internships, and presentations at conferences.

The LSAMP program requires in-coming freshmen to attend a Summer Academy before their first fall semester.   This  is a six-week program that offers the necessary skills and knowledge to help in-coming freshmen make a seamless transaction to college. Students receive a $1,200 stipend plus free room and board.
