Policies

For your safety and comfort, please acquaint yourself with and observe the published and posted policies of the DSC. Here are some important policies to note:

DSC Access

  • All patrons are required to have valid photo I.D. to enter the Fitness Center.
  • The Trojan ID and all access cards remain the property of UA Little Rock and must be surrendered upon request by a university employee (i.e. DSC staff person, student worker, lifeguard, etc.) conducting official business. The Trojan ID must be on your person at all times while on campus. It may not be used by anyone other than the person to whom it was issued. It is your authorization for access to university facilities, services, and activities. If lost or destroyed, the card can be replaced for a charge of $15.00. See our Trojan ID FAQs for more details.
  • Fitness Center assistants and staff manage access to the facility, thus all patrons are encouraged to comply with their directives and requests.

General Rules

  • Profanity and other abusive language are strictly prohibited.
  • No primarily outdoor activities and sports (i.e. throwing footballs, kicking soccer balls, hitting tennis balls, etc.) are permitted in the DSC. Some outdoor activities/sports are permitted as part of classroom instruction or a structured and supervised program.
  • Any guest requiring special accommodations may request such assistance from any DSC staff member.
  • The DSC is not responsible for personal belongings present or stored in the DSC.

Appropriate Attire

  • Patrons must wear appropriate athletic footwear for the activity/sport they engage in.
  • Footwear that marks activity playing surfaces and street shoes of all forms are strictly prohibited.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times.

Food and Beverage

  • Food, unsecured beverages, and gum are strictly prohibited in the DSC Fitness & Aquatic Center.
  • Food/gum must be disposed of prior to entering the facility.
  • Beverages in a secured container (e.g. squeeze bottle) are allowed.

Equipment and Facility Usage

  • Patrons use equipment at their own risk and assume full responsibility for their personal safety.
  • To minimize injury and maximize the intended gain, appropriate use of cardio and strength equipment should be practiced. Inappropriate equipment and facility use may result in serious injury. Patrons should inquire with the Fit/Well Office for instructions on the appropriate use of the equipment and facilities.
  • As a courtesy to other users, patrons should clean the equipment and surrounding area after each use to remove personal effects, perspiration, and body waste.
  • Youth under 18 years of age in the DSC must be accompanied by a parent/adult guardian at all times.
  • Youth under 15 years of age may not use the cardio machines.
  • Youth under 16 years of age may not use the strength training equipment or strength weight assist machines.
  • Use of equipment by youth under 16 is permissible as part of a structured and supervised program or team practice.
  • Please report malfunctioning equipment to the Fitness Center staff immediately.
  • The DSC is not responsible for personal belongings present or stored in the DSC.
  • You may bring a personal lock to use any of the small lockers in the locker room (no charge) for storage of belongings. Lockers must be vacated before the DSC closes for the day.
  • The DSC is a smoke-free environment.

Policy Violations

  • For your safety and comfort, please acquaint yourself with and observe the published and posted policies of the DSC.
  • Violation of these policies may result in your immediate removal from the DSC and/or long term loss of privileges.
  • Violators of the UA Little Rock student code of conduct will be reported to the office of the Vice Chancellor for the Division of Student Affairs.
