The Ottenheimer Library is a vital building for any UALR student. In addition to collections of books, journals, and magazines, the Library also allows students to access its resources from anywhere with an Internet connection.

This section details all the major areas of the Ottenheimer Library.

First Floor

Reference Services
Voice and TDD: (501) 569-8806
Librarians are available at the Reference Services Desk to help library users locate information and provide individual research assistance, walk-ins and appointments welcome. Reference materials such as encyclopedias, indexes, atlases, dictionaries, directories, bibliographies, and electronic resources are located here. Circulation/Reserve

Students, faculty, and staff check out books using their valid UALR Campus Card. Visitors to UALR are welcome to use materials on the premises. Inquire here about joining Friends of the Ottenheimer Library. Circulation staff will help locate missing materials and provide directional information.

Access to materials placed on reserve by professors for their classes is located to the immediate right of the south entrance. Most reserve materials circulate for two hours and use is restricted to the Reserve Reading Room. UALR Campus Card is required to circulate these items.

Computer Lab

Access available through the Reserve Reading room. This lab is restricted to UALR students only. Operating hours are usually posted in the lab, or contact the Computing Services department.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary borrowing (ILL) is a service provided to current UALR students, faculty and staff. ILL will try to obtain books and photocopies of journal articles needed for research and classroom assignments when the material is not located in this library. Blank forms are available outside the ILL Office, or online through the library homepage "Services" link http://library.ualr.edu/.

New Books
A display of new books is available for browsing in front of the Circulation Desk. They are available for immediate circulation. A suggestion box is also available if you would like to submit material requests for the library.

Publications of the U.S. Government, State of Arkansas, and the European Communities are located on the first and third floors. Ask a Reference Librarian for assistance.

Second Floor

Archives/Special Collections

Manuscripts, materials on Arkansas, UALR historical records, and other materials are housed in the Archives and Special Collections.

Administrative Offices

Reserve a study carrel, seek student employment, or provide library-related suggestions or comments in the administrative offices.

Group Study Area
The open seating area is designated for group discussion and study.

Third Floor

Journals/Magazines
Current issues and older volumes of journals and magazines are arranged on the shelves alphabetically by title, or in the Media Center if on microform. The online catalog lists journals, magazines, and newspapers that are available in the Library. See the reference librarians about researching this collection by using indexes and databases.

Fourth Floor

Circulating Books
Books that may be checked out are located primarily on the fourth floor. The books are arranged on the shelves by Library of Congress call number. Instructional Media Services

Ask for Help
The reference librarians are here to help you with your research needs.

Library ID Number
The 14 digit library number is required to renew books, and use our online databases from off-campus. The 14-digit card number is on the back of your UALR campus card or it is accessible from your UALR BOSS account. Select personal information, then UALR library card ID number.

Photocopies (1st, 3rd, and 4th Floors)
Self-service photocopiers are conveniently located near each of the Library collections. Copy cost is 10¢ per page. Debit cards may be purchased at the Circulation Desk. Copier coin-ops accept nickels, dimes and quarters. Circulation Staff provides photocopier assistance.

Restrooms
Restrooms are available on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Floors.
