Financial Aid

UALR has numerous programs available to help invest in your future. Here are some of the sources we can recommend:

Scholarships: Many scholarships are available. They are awarded on the basis of merit, other student achievements, financial need, and other possible criteria. Sources for information include the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, your counselor in Academic Advising, ROTC, and the department of your intended major.

Grants: UALR participates in two federal grant programs, awarding Pell Grants and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants. Awards from both programs are made on the basis of financial need.

On-Campus Employment: UALR participates in the Federal Work-Study program, with on-campus jobs awarded on the basis of financial need.

Loans: You may be eligible for Federal need-based financial aid. UALR participates in the Stafford Student Loan Program. Students who do not meet the need criteria may apply for the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students Loan Program of Unsubsidized Stafford Student Loan Program. All are federal programs.

State Programs: UALR also participates in a number of state financial aid programs including the Arkansas Student Assistance Grant, Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, and other scholarship and loan programs available for students interested in going into the teaching profession in areas where there are a shortage of teachers. Deferred Tuition: You can pay 25 percent of your tuition, fees, and residence hall expenses, then pay the balance in four installments during the semester. You will be charged a one-time $25 service charge.

Off-Campus Employment: Counseling and Career Planning Services maintains a listing of full-time and part-time jobs that don’t require college degrees. Job listings are available for your review in the Career Library (Ross Hall 416). Your can access the information free of charge between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. New jobs are added daily.

Veterans Affairs: UALR is a state approved institution where eligible veterans/dependents may choose to use their benefits.
