The Little Rock BEST Hub kicked off its tournament on September 24 in the EIT building on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Fourteen (14) teams from eight (8) counties across Arkansas received an introduction of the game and an explanation of the rules and scoring from EIT staff. More than 75 students and coaches attended the two and half hour event. After receiving materials and electronics for their robots, team members discussed strategies while taking photographs and measurements of the game field, which was built by Construction Management students. Teams will have six weeks to design, build, and test their robots to perform specific tasks. Teams will test their designs on October 22 at the UALR Field House. Game Day is November 5 starting at 9:00 a.m. in the UALR Field House and is open to the public.

UALR has served as a hub for three years, which Dr. Jing Zhang, Systems Engineering Department, helped establish with funding he originally received from Arkansas Science and Technoogy Authority (ASTA). Dr. Zhang now serves as the technical advisor for the teams.
