Welcome to Middle Childhood Education

Middle Childhood Education Programs at UALR prepare candidates for licensure to teach in grades 4-8. The study of young adolescents and middle grades education with special emphasis on school-university partnerships; diversity; development of positive learning environments; education for students from high-poverty populations; middle grades curriculum, instruction, and assessment; subject-specific education (i.e. mathematics, science, etc.).

Degree options in Middle Childhood Education:

Students select one of the following emphases to prepare for certification in two content areas:

  • Math/Science
  • Social Studies/Language Arts
  • Language Arts/ Science
  • Mathematics/Language Arts
  • Social Studies/Mathematics
  • Science/Social Studies
