| History Teaching Enhancements Affecting Minority Students - TEAMS TEAMS was founded in 1992 on the UALR campus to encourage minority students to complete their college education. Originally, a joint effort between the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and UALR Graduate School, TEAMS is now a self-sustaining organization which provides academic and extracurricular support for minority students. TEAMS also provides scholarships and TAMS (Tuition Assistance for Minority Students) for minority graduate students. To qualify students must be of a minority group that is traditionally underrepresented in higher education, a United States citizen or resident alien and an Arkansas resident. The student must also be fully admitted to a degree-seeking graduate program pursuing the first degree at graduate level and in good standing. However, satisfactory progress must be made toward a degree. The student must also have the endorsement of a UALR staff or faculty member who will mentor the development of the applicant. The student will also submit a plan of involvement with TEAMS. For participating TEAMS members, both undergraduate and graduate, TEAMS provides $100 book grants redeemable in the UALR Bookstore. The book grants are awarded based on grade point averages and the final decision will be made by the program. |
