NEWS from CLEP
While a budget agreement was reached in Congress over the weekend, we must emphasize that it has not yet been formally approved and still needs to be signed by the President. In order to provide enough time for Presidential approval, Congress extended federal funding through midnight Wednesday, December 17th. Test centers are approved to continue the CLEP military testing program funded through the Defense Activities for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) until that time.
In the event that the budget bill is not signed by the President and there is a U.S. Government shutdown, the CLEP military testing program funded through DANTES will be suspended for all active duty Armed Services, Guard, Reserves and Coast Guard. This includes administration of exams to active duty members, spouses and civilian personnel. Any CLEP test taker who provides a CLEP Exam Registration Ticket with “DANTES funded” as Yes is NOT eligible to test during the shutdown period due to a cessation of funding for the program while U.S. Government budget issues are resolved. This affects administration of all CLEP exams funded for military personnel by DANTES and includes national test centers as well as base-sponsored national test centers. Please note that personally funded retesting of CLEP exams by military personnel is not impacted.
We hope this issue is fully resolved before the extended budget deadline of midnight December 17th and we apologize for any inconvenience or disruption this may cause at your testing sites.
We will provide an update on the situation on Thursday, December 18th.
The CLEP Team”
DSST’s are typically taken by persons in the military, but they are available to non-military persons also.
Note that UALR does not administer DSST’s, but we do give credit for the ones listed below.
If you have taken a DSST, note the following steps:
- Check the table below to see if the test you took is accepted for credit at UALR, and if you made the required score.
- If the answer to either question is, “No”, you have no need to request a score report.
- If the answer is, “Yes” (that is, you took a test that is accepted at UALR and you earned a passing score as determined by UALR faculty), request that DANTES send an official score report to:
- Your score report will be evaluated, and a copy of the evaluation will be mailed to you.
- Note that some tests are still being considered. You may wish to delay requesting a score report until a final decision has been made.
