ACT Residual

ACT Residual tests are last-minute tests for students who have missed all the national test dates. Information about the ACT National can be found at the ACT National Section of our website.

The only advantage to taking a Residual is that in some cases you can get your scores faster than if you wait for the next national date. Residual tests are not easier, or shorter. Residuals cannot be used for practice or any reason other than admission.

NOTE: Not all students are required to take the ACT test. Check with Admissions if you are unsure about your requirements. International students and students age 21 and older have the option of taking the COMPASS instead of ACT or SAT.

Disadvantages to testing on a Residual date:

  • Scores are not transferable to other institutions. If you take an ACT Residual test at UALR and then decide to attend some other university, your scores will not go with you.
  • If you decide to re-test, you must wait at least 60 days between Residual tests. If the 60-day time limit is violated, the re-test score will be canceled and no refund will be made. Even if you change from one testing center to another, you must wait 60 days before you can re-take an ACT Residual.

If you are not 100% certain that you will attend UALR, you should not take a Residual test. Remember, your scores are not transferable if you decide to attend some other university.
