International Baccalaureate Program (IB)
Some students are enrolled in International Baccalaureate programs in their high schools. At the end of the academic year, they can take IB tests to try to earn college credit. The IB program is similar to Advanced Placement (AP) in that students can earn
college credits for work done while still enrolled in high school.
Official score reports must be sent directly to UALR Testing Services from the IB organization.
If you need your scores sent to UALR you must submit a transcript request form.
UALR faculty members are currently making policy decisions on IB credits. Details will be posted here as available.
IB scores are reported on a scale of 1 to 7. Many IB classes have an SL (Standard Level) and an HL (Higher Level) option.
Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay tests are given letter grades from A (Excellent) to E (Elementary).
IB Diploma recipients will be awarded a minimum of 24 hours. The specific credits will vary according to the student’s curriculum. The topics studied in IB courses can vary considerably from school to school and from student to student. UALR faculty will evaluate scores from individuals appropriately. Not every IB student will receive the same credits for similar classes.
Students who did not complete a full IB Diploma still may be eligible for credits in individual subjects. Refer to the table below for details.
If you took an IB test that is not listed here, or if you feel your curriculum was individualized to the extent that it deserves specialized evaluation, contact the Director of Testing Services.
