University District receives $100,000 Safe Routes to Schools Grant

The Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department has approved a grant application by the University District Development Corporation for $100,000 from the Safe Routes to School Program to complete sidewalks on S. Harrison Street.

The City of Little Rock has agreed to oversee construction of the sidewalks on the east side of S. Harrison Street between 12th and 14th Streets and between 22nd and 24th Streets. The Safe Routes to Schools Program aims to encourage elementary school children to walk or bicycle safely to school. Funds can be used for infrastructure and for program activities.
