We are excited to introduce you to our Dollars & Cents e-newsletter. Formerly in print format, we have converted the newsletter to an electronic format in order to support the university’s sustainability efforts.
The newsletter’s electronic format provides several benefits. First, it allows us to conserve natural resources while at the same time saving the university money because there are no printing costs associated with its publication. We also have the potential to reach a wider audience of faculty and staff by utilizing listservs for distribution. Finally, the e-newsletter format provides us the flexibility to publish it as often as necessary to keep the campus community informed of various departmental and process changes within the finance departments.
We are also pleased to announce that the Finance and Administration website and its finance department websites have been migrated to the new university template. During the migration process, special consideration was given to improving navigation, content, and features. For instance, forms and travel information are now located on their own webpages, which provides a “one-stop” location and allows for consistency in published forms and travel information.
Procurement Services’ website, which has been completely re-designed, provides the public and campus community with timely, relevant information regarding bids, contracts, construction, and procurement, to name just a few. The Bursar’s website provides links for both the Cashier’s Office and Student Accounts, as well as menus specifically tailored for students and employees, which simplifies navigation for visitors on the site. In addition, its home page provides valuable information regarding the registration confirmation process. Financial Services’ website contains links to the accounts payable, general accounting, and payroll departments. Finally, Mail Services’ website will tell you everything you need to know about the mailing services they provide to the campus community.
Each of our finance websites now has a “Request for Information” widget on the right side so that you can request help or information electronically, which will hopefully increase response times in providing you with assistance. In addition, we have added customer satisfaction surveys to our websites so that we can monitor and continually improve the service we provide. A final feature added is the “Recent News” items, which are published on each website to keep you up-to-date with current events and important news items relevant to that department.
This is just a quick overview of the improvements we have made to the finance websites. We encourage you to take a few minutes and explore them to see other improvements in content and navigation. As always, our goal is to provide you with a valuable resource of timely, relevant information that will make your jobs easier.
