University Writing Center

UWC Computers

The University Writing Center computer lab contains 13 MAC computers and 2 PCs, which are available for students to surf the internet, research, and type papers.

MAC Programs

  • Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing- program that improves typing skills and speed
  • Inspiration- allows students to organize their thoughts electronically using outline and clustering methods
  • Microsoft 2010- Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • TextEdit- the equivalent to WordPad on a PC
  • Firefox- web browser
    PC Programs

    • The two PCs in the lab our reserved to students with disabilities
    • MAGIC- a program that enlarges text and images
    • JAWS- a screen reading program
    • The Adobe Master Collection- contains advanced programs used by technical and multimedia students
    • Microsoft 2007- Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, OneNote
