Race, ethnicity, and the Arkansas media will be the focus of the ninth annual Conference on Racial Attitudes in Pulaski County, Thursday, March 15. The conference is presented by the UALR Institute on Race and Ethnicity and will be held in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
This year’s conference, “Arkansas Media, Race and Ethnicity: Accountability, Responsibility, and Opportunity,” will include a media panel discussion during which media professionals will discuss news reporting as it relates to racial and ethnic issues in Arkansas.
Featured panelists include Frank Fellone of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Malcolm Glover of KUAR public radio, Katherina Yancy of KATV Channel 7 news, Rafael Nunez of El Latino and the Arkansas Times, and John Brummett of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
The conference is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by lunch and round table discussions. The discussions will help attendees develop strategies to address issues related to race and ethnic relations involving the media, as well as share opportunities for growth toward justice for all the people of Arkansas.
