Julie Adams ’46 The Lucky Southern Star: Reflections from the Black Lagoon

Julie Adams (Betty May Adams) a 1946 LRJC graduate appeared in over fifty films and hundreds of television episodes.  She also acted on the state, where she starred in more than a dozen plays and won a 1989 Drama – Logue Award for her portrayal of Mary Tyrone in Eugune O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night.  In 1999, Julie won a Golden Bood Award for her work in Westerns, was inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2000, and was honored with a Film Career Achievement Award from Cincecon in 2011.  Julie resides in Los Angeles.  

Her book The Lucky Southern Star:  Reflections from the Black Lagoon is published by Hollywood Adventures Publishing.  

She co-starred with some of the biggest names in Hollywood: Jimmy Stewart, Rock Hudson, Tyrone Power, and Charlton Heston.  Her legendary career included a leading role in the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and appearances on the Andy Griffith Show.
