The Communication Skill Center (CSC) is a free campus resource devoted to supporting the development of all stages of the speech creation process–we help take the panic out of public speaking! We also help with interview preparation and practice as well as other communication-related skill building.
Fall 2021: CSC Services will be available virtually for the first half of the semester
The Communication Skill Center physical space will be closed for the first half of the Fall 2021 semester as we wait for construction on the new Learning Commons to finish up; however, we are still available for synchronous (real time) online video consultations and synchronous (real time) chat help, as well as support via email beginning Monday August 23.

Tuesday: 8am-4pm; 5pm-6pm

What we can help with:
We can help with ACOM 1300 or other ACOM classes as well presentations in other classes or contexts. We also offer public speaking professional development for faculty and staff.
Our services include, but are not limited to:

- adapting messages to audiences
- designing and integrating effective presentational aids
- one-on-one rehearsal coaching
- mock interviews
- ACOM major peer advising
While we are ready to help students on their presentations and other communication-related skills, we also want to encourage students who are feeling isolated during this time to feel free to use our online services whenever they need a sense of connection and community.

WORKSHOPS (offered virtually and onsite Fall 2021)
Workshops can focus on any stage of the presentation creation process (brainstorming, researching, organizing, creating and using effective presentational aids, rehearsing, etc.) as well as other communication topics (active listening, assertiveness, team building, professionalism, etc.). The CSC offers three different staff positions for students interested in building and refining their communication skills while helping others do the same! Our positions include: Undergraduate/Graduate Unpaid Internships (course credit–ACOM 2314, ACOM 4314, ACOM 8300), Federal Work Study, and Volunteer.
