The Communication Skill Center (CSC) is a free student resource devoted to supporting the development of all stages of the speech creation process–we help take the panic out of public speaking!
Fall 2020: CSC Services will be available virtually
The Communication Skill Center physical space will be closed Fall 2020, but we are still available for synchronous (real time) online video consultations and synchronous (real time) video drop-in help, as well as support via email.
Our appointment hours are:
Monday: 8:00am to 2:00pm; 5:00pm-6:00pm
Tuesday: 8:00am to 2:00pm; 5:00pm-6:00pm
Wednesday: 8:00am to 2:00pm; 5:00pm-10:00pm
Thursday: 9:00am to noon; 5:00pm-10:00pm
Friday: 9:00am to noon; 5:00pm-8:00pm

What we can help with:
We can help with any of your ACOM 1300 or other ACOM classes as well your presentations in other classes or contexts. Our services include, but are not limited to:
- managing communication and public speaking anxiety
- brainstorming topics
- conducting research
- organizing content
- adapting messages to audiences
- designing and integrating effective presentational aids such as PowerPoint and Prezi
- one-on-one rehearsal coaching
- ACOM major advising
While we are ready to help students on their presentations and other communication-related skills, we also want to encourage students who are feeling isolated during this time to feel free to use our online services whenever they need a sense of connection and community.

WORKSHOPS (offered virtually Fall 2020)
Workshops can focus on any stage of the presentation creation process (brainstorming, researching, organizing, creating and using effective presentational aids, rehearsing, etc.) as well as other communication topics (active listening, assertiveness, team building, professionalism, etc.). We are happy to tailor workshops to specific assignment expectations. ONSITE RESOURCES (Not available Fall 2020)
Technology. In the CSC we have PCs and Macs.
Software. We have a computer with Jaws and Magic for students who are blind or with low vision.
Printing. We also offer printing services—the first four pages are free; each additional page is 10 cents.
Conferences/Walk-in Appointments. Students are encouraged, but not required, to schedule conferences with staff in the CSC. Walk-ins are welcome. When checking-in clients will need their T#s. Book an Appointment
