Communication Skill Center (CSC)

The Communication Skill Center (CSC) is a free campus resource devoted to supporting the development of all stages of the speech creation process–we help take the panic out of public speaking! We also help with interview preparation and practice as well as other communication-related skill building.

What we can help with:

We can help with ACOM 1300 or other ACOM classes as well presentations in other classes or contexts. We also offer public speaking professional development for faculty and staff.

Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • managing communication and public speaking anxiety
  • brainstorming topics
  • conducting research
  • organizing content
  • adapting messages to audiences
  • designing and integrating effective presentational aids
  • one-on-one rehearsal coaching
  • mock interviews
  • ACOM major peer advising

While we are ready to help students on their presentations and other communication-related skills, we also want to encourage students who are feeling isolated during this time to feel free to use our online services whenever they need a sense of connection and community.

Schedule an appointment today with the CSC and become a more comfortable, confident speaker!

WORKSHOPS (offered virtually and onsite Fall 2021)
Workshops can focus on any stage of the presentation creation process (brainstorming, researching, organizing, creating and using effective presentational aids, rehearsing, etc.) as well as other communication topics (active listening, assertiveness, team building, professionalism, etc.). We are happy to tailor workshops to specific assignment expectations. Please contact the CSC Director, Dr. Kristen McIntyre, with questions or to schedule workshops, Email: kagullicksm@ualr.edu.
