Mark Wittig: Structures That Transformed Education

January 22 at 9:00 am - February 23 at 5:00 pm

Free

This exhibition is a sample of the larger body of work “Structures That Transformed Education – 1724-1974” that will be on exhibit at the Laman Branch of the North Little Rock Library during the May 17, 70th Anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education.

Structures That Transformed Education is a typological study of the history of education to highlight the variations and similarities in education systems throughout the United States of America. This study considers the desegregation struggles of the communities of color together and separately as dictated by the historical record. Mark Wittig is working with school buildings that have already been identified as significant places, and he is actively searching out properties that have been overlooked in the larger national narrative in the history of education reform.

Reception: Thursday, February 8, 5:00-7:00pm
