Mauricio Silerio: Los Demonios de mi Tierra (Demons of this Land)
August 15, 2018 @ 10:00 am - September 30, 2018 @ 4:30 pm
This series of underwater photographs is inspired by traditional Mexican legends and culture. Silerio states: “As the universe devouring itself and so is sublimated through friction. Every moment of life is a step closer to the destruction and disappearance and so every moment is a moment of lack of proximity to the infinite being.”
The artist explores universal concepts that can be understood by any spectator, even if they do not have a profound knowledge of Mexican culture. The exhibit is on display in the Maners/Pappas Gallery located in the Fine Arts Building. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday from 10am – 4:30pm.
