As Director of the UA Little Rock Benton Campus it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website and tell you about the Campus.
The UA Little Rock Benton Center is an extension of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. UA Little Rock has a long history of providing quality higher education in Saline County. Beginning in 1975 to 1994, UA Little Rock offered selected evening classes at the Benton High School.
At the request and help from the Saline County Education Association and the Saline/Benton community, UA Little Rock opened the Benton Center in 1995 offering a full State Minimum Core curriculum that would lead to any four-year degree, as well as, offering Saline County’s first degree…Associates of Art in General Studies…which, also, goes toward any four-year degree. At the time, only 15 classes were offered and most of those were evening classes…and provided those classes to 83 students for the year from the Saline County area. The staff consisted of one full-time program manager and one part-time office staff.
Today, the UA Little Rock Benton Campus has grown to over 300 students per year from all over the Central Arkansas area. Today’s staff consists of seventeen employees that include six full-time staff and two full-time instructors.
In the Fall of 2018, UA Little Rock Benton Campus will add several new degree programs to its existing General Studies and Nursing prerequisites. The new programs are in the following subjects: management, interdisciplinary studies, law enforcement, and computer programming.
The future is very bright at the UA Little Rock Benton Campus. Not only are there plans for continued 4-year degree expansion, but there are also Community Enrichment Courses and Youth Programs.
Come join your friends, family members, and neighbors at UA Little Rock Benton Campus, and fulfill your educational goals.
