Communication Tips for Students in Summer Courses

summer communication

Make an effort to get to know your Professor

Introduce yourself on the first day of class. The pace of summer school moves very quickly, getting to know your professor from the very beginning can only help you.

Find out how to Contact your Professor

Look to see where your professor’s office is and what their office hours are. Most likely, this information will appear on your syllabus. If not, ask your professor for this information and use it to your advantage!

Talk to your Professor Everyday

Go to class everyday and participate. You want your professor to notice that you haven’t missed a class and that you care about the course. If you have any questions about a homework assignment or a test, make sure you don’t wait until the last minute to ask for help.

Get to know your Classmates

Your classmates can be a great resource when it comes to studying for tests. Get to know a few students in your class and plan study groups and meetings. This can not only help you study, but also keep you accountable and on the right track.

Get to know Professors you may have in an Upcoming Semester

BE PROACTIVE. Go out of your way to introduce yourself and tell a Professor that you are excited to take their course. If you know your professors before you take their course it can help with the anxiety and stress that comes from a new semester.
