Blackboard Support & Training<\/a> – Students use Blackboard to take fully online courses or to submit assignments for face-to-face or hybrid courses. All Blackboard users need regular access to a computer with stable broadband Internet, and have basic computer skills, such as emailing, word processing, and navigating the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CARE Team<\/a> – Exists to assist current UA Little Rock students with situations that can potentially disrupt a student\u2019s academic progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning Commons <\/a> – Students are welcome to use computers, group study rooms, dry-erase boards, desks, tables, and hang-out areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ottenheimer Library<\/a> – Help with research, instruction, academic success, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bookstore<\/a> – In person or online shopping for books, technology, apparel, and student supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

University Learning Assistant Program<\/a> – Learn more about LAP and apply to become a Learning Assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Office of TRIO Student Support Services<\/a> – Provides services to a limited number of eligible students to increase participants\u2019 college persistence, support them through graduation, and facilitate the transition from one level of higher education to the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Office of PEAW First Year Experience<\/a> – First Year Colloquium courses are designed to help first-year college students transition into UA Little Rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Office of TRIO McNair Scholars<\/a>.- McNair Scholars receive support along the path toward their graduate school enrollment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic Student Complaints<\/a> – Students are encouraged to seek informal resolution at the department level when possible. After exhausting the department or informal complaint process, students may file a formal complaint with the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade Appeals<\/a> – Students may appeal final course grades, results of capstone experiences, comprehensive and qualifying examinations, defenses, and other graded program requirements. Incoming freshmen and transfer students only need to apply for admission to UA Little Rock in order to be considered for most of our <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/scholarships\/\">institutional scholarships<\/a> (institutional scholarships are the ones that come from the university).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chpr-scholarships\">CHPR Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbara E. Northup Memorial  Scholarship for Interpreter Education<br> <\/strong>Awarded to students majoring in Interpretation: ASL\/English. The recipient shall maintain a GPA of 3.00 or above. The recipient shall have met the program benchmarks at each level (SLPI and\/or QAST).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jerry and Teresa Elkins Endowed Award<br>\n<\/strong>Awarded to full-time or part-time student majoring in Master of Education in Counselor Education. The recipient must have had a GPA of 3.00 or above in Undergraduate coursework. Preference will be given to students residing in Sharp or Independence County, Arkansas, and financial need will be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marguerite Flake Scholarship<br>\n<\/strong>Awarded to full-time or part-time students with preference given to applicants who show a sincere commitment to the field of education as a life-long career. Seven weeks and six surgeries later, Guzman lost his right foot. After spending much of his life as a player, his curiosity shifted behind the scenes \u2014 driven by a desire to learn how teams are built, supported, and developed. Thomson began his teaching career as a middle school teacher and coach, and over the years has taught students from the kindergarten to the graduate level. Outside of academia he has worked in corporate fitness, community recreation, and clinical rehabilitation. He has over 20 years of higher education experience and joined the UA Little Rock faculty in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Thomson earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in health and physical education with a minor in biology from Texas A&M University. His master\u2019s degree in exercise science is also from Texas A&M. He earned his doctor in education from the University of Houston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses taught at UA Little Rock include Motor Behavior, Foundations of Kinesiology, Teaching Methods in Secondary Physical Education, Drug Education, Adapted Physical Education, Individual\/Lifetime Sports, and Advanced First Aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research interests include practical applications of teaching methodology as well as the impact of physical activity on physical, mental, and emotional health. He has made over 45 presentations at state and national conventions of his professional societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr T. enjoys traveling and learning about the cultures of other countries. He loves to read about history, hike, and paddle a kayak. He plays guitar, golf, and pickleball, and just happens to be a certified mule rider.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. William C. Her master\u2019s degree in liberal studies, with a focus on health education and health psychology, is also from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses she has taught at UA Little Rock include Substance Abuse & Addiction, Mental Health Education, Nutrition, Personal Health, Controversial Issues in Health Education, and Drug Education. She has also supervised undergraduate student teaching practicums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knight enjoys serving as a volunteer coach for nonprofit youth sports organizations in her community. Her professional experience includes serving as the intramural sports coordinator in Campus Recreation Services at the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) as well as an assistant director for the University Recreation Department at the University of Arkansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her current professional involvement takes advantage of the nationally recognized outdoor sport and trail opportunities in the state of Arkansas. She remains active in several professional organizations including the NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation, and the Arkansas Ultrarunning Association. She is a race director for multiple trail races in the state, and enjoys being a pace group leader at marathons around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Katie Helms earned an M.Ed. and an Ed.D. in recreation and sport management from the University of Arkansas. His master\u2019s degree is from Southeastern Louisiana University and his PhD is from Louisiana State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Otundo\u2019s primary research interests include Pedagogy, Physical Activity Motivation, and Behavior Change. He has worked in higher education at UA Little Rock since 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paprocki earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration and finance from St. Norbert College. His master\u2019s degree in exercise physiology is from the University of Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to coming to UA Little Rock he spent three years working as a strength and conditioning coach for multiple Olympic sport teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses taught at UA Little Rock include Care and Prevention of Injuries, Exercise Wellness & Lifestyle, Exercise Principles and Methods, and Advanced First Aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paprocki owns his own personal training and rehabilitation business and sees clients at multiple fitness centers around the Little Rock area. He spends a lot of his time with his son Elijah and dog Avis.
