UALR ACM Programming team finishes 2nd at site, 3rd in state

The UALR Chapter of ACM competed in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest on November 1, 2013 at Univ. of Arkansas Fort Smith Campus. The site competition was made up of 12 teams from universities across the state, and UALR’s top team “Comic Sans” finished 2nd in the site, 3rd in the state, and 29th in the Region (out of 138 total teams).

This result is very impressive as UALR team is in a rebuilding year after the graduation of former core members. Only one student of the current nine competitors has completed a course in data structures; thus, we are competing against much more experienced teams comprised of junior and senior students. All but one of our competitors are freshmen/sophomores, which spells big things for our teams in the coming years. Please give our teams a big hand; they did a fantastic job! Details of the teams and their placements are provided below:

Team Comic Sans (Site: 2/12, State: 3/14, Region: 29/138)

Team Crouching Tiger (8/12, 8/14, 69/138)

Team 1001 (9/12, 9/14, 71/138)
