Seth Cook, B.S. – Graduate Assistant

Seth Cook headshotSeth Cook graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2019 and immediately accepted a position in the Emerging Analytics Center. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biology.  He has worked with Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira since August 2019. His projects include optimizing a 360° campus tour, developing both an alumni database and a recruitment database, and creating a workflow for the Department of Computer Science graduate assistants. For his thesis project, Mr. Cook will be working with Dr. Qingfang He and Dr. Phil Williams to develop a photobioreactor for monitoring and for maintaining cyanobacteria while minimizing contamination.

Mr. Cook is also well-versed in organizing and operating campus clean-up events with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation as well as donation drives for the Trojan Food Pantry and for Break of Difference. In 2015, he received the Student Government Association (SGA) Senator of the Year award, and the next year, he received the SGA’s Executive of the Year award. Mr. Cook was also recognized in 2017 by Who’s Who Among Students. In 2020, he was asked by the UA Little Rock Sustainability Committee to chair the Earth Day and Sustainability Day events. Mr. Cook received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Department of Computer Science for 2021-2022. He served as treasurer for the Graduate Student Association for 2021-2022 and has served as the social media liaison for the UA Little Rock ACM from 2020-present.
