In CSSC, we foster the very best learning experiences for our students. This is why last summer, our newest faculty attended The Best Teachers Institute together as a group and dived into the nature of teaching excellence. The faculty who attended include: Dr. Bailey Oliver from Applied Communication, both Dr. Christopher Etheridge and Dr. Brandon Colvin from the School of Mass Communication, and Dr. Don Willis from Sociology and Anthropology.
This Friday, October 4th 2019 at noon, they will be presenting a panel discussion on their experience at the Best Teachers Institute and their key take aways. Specifically, they will unpack:
1. Ken Bain’s surface vs. deep learning.
2. Practices to create a natural critical learning environment.
3. How to create deep collective discussions early in the class.
4. The use of polling methods.
5. John Hattie’s visible learning.
Lunch will be provided for the event. We hope to see you there to support our faculty and join the conversation.
Please RSVP by Wednesday October 2nd to Christina Owens at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also let her know if you have any special dietary needs.
Let’s STEP IN together!
