CSSC General Scholarships
CSSC Founding Dean’s Community Engaged Research Scholarship
The CSSC Founding Dean’s Community Engaged Research Scholarship honors the CSSC founding dean, Dr. Lisa Bond-Maupin, and is awarded to CSSC undergraduate students, full- or part-time, who have declared a major within the College and want to collaborate with a CSSC faculty member in community-engaged research. Preference will be given to junior and senior level students and academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered. Applications must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and must submit a description of the research project. This scholarship will provide assistance for any education-related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, research expenses, books, fees, room and board at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Laverne Sheard-Britton Scholarship
The Laverne Sheard-Britton Scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time student in the College of Social Sciences and Communication. Preference will be given to freshman-level students who are from a single-parent home. Applicant must demonstrate academic accomplishment and financial need.
Rosa Pfeifer Isacson Endowed Scholarship
The Rosa Pfeifer Isacson Endowed Scholarship’s purpose is to encourage students to complete their education/degree. It awards one or more scholarships to full- or part-time students with a major/program in the College of Social Sciences and Communication to provide assistance for any education-related expenses or emergency needs. When selecting scholarship recipients, academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered. All things being equal, financial need shall be the determining factor in the selection of the recipient, and the recipient shall write a letter of appreciation to the Donor, which shall serve as his or her official notice of acceptance.
September Fund Endowed Scholarship
The purpose of The September Fund Endowed Scholarship shall be to provide assistance for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees and room and board, for the children of Arkansas first responders who are students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and who have expressed an interest in the College of Social Sciences and Communication.
The selection of the recipients of The September Fund Endowed Scholarship shall be the responsibility of the Scholarship Committee of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and will in no way provide direct or personal benefit to the primary Donor to this fund in accordance with the following criteria:
- The money shall be awarded to a full or part-time student who is the child of an Arkansas first responder, to include all law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs.
- Applicants shall establish their relationship to a first responder by identifying the individual by name, the field within which the individual is or was employed, and the agency or entity with which the individual is or was employed.
- All applicants will be considered equal however; preference will be given to students with a declared major in a discipline within the College of Social Sciences and Communication; if no qualified applicant can be found within the College of Social Sciences and Communication, the scholarship may be awarded to a qualified applicant with a declared major in another discipline at UA Little Rock.
- Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.
- Recipients shall write a letter of appreciation to the donor, which shall serve as their official notice of acceptance.
John E. Jacob Memorial Scholarship
The John E. Jacob Memorial Scholarship is awarded to CSSC undergraduate students (of at least sophomore standing) who seek to establish a career as communication professionals working to advance a social, economic, political or health-related cause and are committed to working for a cause-oriented nonprofit organization.

Julien and Margaret Mirivel Positive Research Scholarship
The Julien and Margaret Mirivel Positive Research Scholarship is awarded to full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students with a major in the College of Social Sciences and Communication who desire to conduct positive research through a project that takes a positive frame to solve a social problem. This scholarship will provide for any education-related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, and fees at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Middle Eastern Studies Incoming Student Scholarship
The Middle Eastern Studies Incoming Student Scholarship is intended for students enrolling for the first time at UA Little Rock who have a demonstrated interest in the Middle East and the intention of declaring Middle Eastern Studies as a minor.
