Internships – Community Engaged Learning

The College of Social Sciences and Communication (CSSC) strongly encourages students to participate in high-impact learning opportunities such as internships. An internship is an excellent way to integrate classroom learning with real-world situations. Internships offer a planned program of observation, participation, and study in a variety of working environments with a public sector agency or private sector corporate or business employer.  They also give students an opportunity to explore possible career choices and learn professional skills necessary to be competitive in today’s job market.

From Theory to Practice:

Internships are continually becoming a central component of the instructional process affording students a chance for hands-on experience with public or private sector employers.  Classroom Instruction and education becomes enriched, enhanced, and better understood through practical experience in the application of specific concepts, theories, and principles.
