AY 2014-2015 Highlights

  • Trained on new and updated requirements regarding Campus Security Act (Jeanne Clery Act), Title IX, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA – also known as Campus SaVE Act); gained knowledge, skills, and best practices to ensure full compliance of new federal mandates
  • Provided education and awareness on sexual assault and Title IX policy and reporting procedures
  • Partnered with the Department of Public Safety to developed Campus Safety Week 2014; coordinated the See Something, Say Something campaign, along with A Safe ‘U’ is A Safe You theme for Campus Safety Week
  • Promoted and trained campus constituents on campus safety and presented Shots Fired video, an active shooter training
  • Participated in Student Affairs Success Initiatives Survival Skills Workshop and presented on prevention and awareness of alcohol and drugs
  • Continued partnership with Green Dot initiative; collaborated with Office of the Chancellor to put on the Green Dot Amazing Race event, during which students learned and were tested on campus safety, resources and bystander information
  • Served and participated on the selection committee for the hiring of numerous positions for university police
  • Worked collaboratively with admissions, legal counsel, and university police to develop and implement an admissions clearance process to review criminal history of applicants with felony convictions
  • Formalized student death notification procedures to ensure appropriate action is taken to close university records of deceased students and alumni
  • Collaborated with Ottenheimer Library and SGA to put on Late Night Study Breaks for fall and spring semesters
  • Redesigned websites for Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Office of the Dean of Students; updated and revised to ensure the accessibility of the student handbook
