Swarthmore Linguist to Screen Documentary

Dr. K. David Harrison, Associate Professor and Chair of Linguistics at Swarthmore College, will screen the Emmy nominated documentary film The Linguists at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 26 in UALR’s newly renovated Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.  The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s star.  This event is sponsored by the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program and the UALR Alumni Association.  To attend, RSVP at ualr.edu/alumni

Dr. Harrison will also lecture on Endangered Languages on October 27 at 2:00 PM in Dickinson 100.  The first 20 UALR students who can present an ID card will receive a copy of Harrison’s book, When Languages Die. This event is sponsored by the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program, English Department, Anthropology Club, Philosophy Department, Rhetoric and Writing Department, Sociology and Anthropology Department, and the Donaghey Scholars Student Committee.

Both events are free and open to the public.
