Students in this category are not eligible for scholarships or financial aid. Admission under these guidelines does not guarantee that a student may be enrolled in a particular course. After reviewing the credentials, the department chair must complete, sign, and return the Concurrent Enrollment Faculty Approval Form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-professional-development-facilitation\">Professional Development Facilitation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each university department chair\/liaison must facilitate discipline-specific professional development for high school CE faculty members teaching in for their department. This professional development occurs as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New teacher discipline specific orientation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The annual summer professional development forum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Face-to-face professional development- primarily for teachers unable to attend summer PD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On-going support via email, online forums, phone conversations, or face-to-face interaction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual onsite evaluation visits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the high school CE faculty member teacher misses professional development, the university liaison must make the CE coordinator aware and follow the protocol of non-compliance as stated in the faculty guidelines \u201cnon-compliance\u201d section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ua-little-rock-departmental-liaison-site-visit\">UA Little Rock Departmental Liaison Site Visit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each UA Little Rock departmental liaison <strong>must<\/strong> make one on-site visit to each high school CE faculty member teaching a CE course in his\/her department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-for-the-site-visit-the-ua-little-rock-departmental-liaison\">For the site visit the UA Little Rock Departmental Liaison:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prior to Site visit:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review course syllabus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the Concurrent Enrollment Faculty Guidelines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedule the site visit with the high school CE faculty member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During Site visit: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the site visits prior to spring break for UA Little Rock<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be an observer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss findings with teacher\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If teacher is found in non-compliance, inform UA Little Rock CE Coordinator, and discuss a plan of action to bring the teacher into compliance .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the teacher is in compliance, no action is necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a representative of their department, the Chair\/Liaison for Concurrent Enrollment will complete and submit the online evaluation form at the time of visit. Evaluation form results are directly communicated to the University CE office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the visit, the Chair\/Liaison for Concurrent Enrollment will verify that CE high school faculty adhere to the following <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/04\/CE-HS-Faculty-Guidelines-2023.pdf\">Concurrent Enrollment HS Faculty Guidelines<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Professional Development <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New faculty<\/strong> must attend the New Faculty Orientation prior to teaching the CE courses. New faculty and liaisons must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/04\/CE-New-HS-Faculty-Orientation-Verification-Form-23-24.pdf\">New Faculty Orientation Verification Form<\/a>\u00a0and submit it prior to the beginning of the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend <strong>ONE<\/strong> UA Little Rock CE Program and\/or departmental professional development event per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Correspond with UA Little Rock departmental CE Program liaison for professional development events and onsite observations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make forms, syllabus, and all necessary class materials easily accessible for students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit UA Little Rock comparable course syllabi to university department chairperson\/liaison and copy the UA Little Rock concurrent enrollment coordinator by the first day of the semester (if year long courses only submit in the fall).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set academically rigorous expectations for students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide accommodations to the exceptional population.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Grading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use grading scale as prescribed by the university faculty liaison\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit grades by specified dates through BOSS account by prescribed dates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Classroom Observations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CE teachers will be observed and evaluated by University department chairs\/liaisons once per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CE high school courses and teachers will be evaluated, and information will be communicated to teachers and administrators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Noncompliance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If teachers are found in noncompliance to these guidelines, the following disciplinary measures will be taken:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First offense: Teacher and CE coordinators will be notified.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If after notification, the teacher if still under non-compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Second offense: Formal written notification is sent to the High School principal\/building level supervisor.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If after notifying administration the teacher is still found in noncompliance,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Last offense: The teacher will not be reappointed as CE faculty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/04\/CE-Liaison-Expectations-02_2023.pdf\">Department Chair\/Liaison Expectations Checklist <\/a>can be used throughout the year to track concurrent enrollment high school faculty members for your department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The role of the UA Little Rock Department Chair\/Liaison for Concurrent Enrollment is to provide quality collegial support and guidance to the CE partnering high school faculty. Please complete the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/04\/CE-HS-Faculty-Guidelines-2023.pdf\">Concurrent Enrollment High School Faculty Guidelines<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a representative of UA Little Rock, the CE faculty must adhere to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Professional Development <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New faculty<\/strong> must attend the New Faculty Orientation prior to teaching the CE courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend <strong>ONE<\/strong> UA Little Rock CE Program and\/or departmental professional development event per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Correspond with UA Little Rock departmental CE program liaison for professional development events and onsite observations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make forms, syllabus, and all necessary class materials easily accessible for students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit UA Little Rock comparable course syllabi to the university department chairperson\/liaison and copy UA Little Rock\u2019s concurrent enrollment coordinator by the first day of the semester (if year long courses only submit in the fall).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set academically rigorous expectations for students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide accommodations to the exceptional population<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Grading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use grading scale as prescribed by the university department chair\/faculty liaison<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit grades by specified dates through BOSS account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Classroom Observations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CE teachers will be observed and evaluated by university departmental liaisons once per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CE high school courses and teachers will be evaluated, and information will be communicated to teachers and administrators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Noncompliance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If teachers are found in noncompliance to the Concurrent Enrollment High School Faculty Guidelines, the following disciplinary measures will be taken:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First offense: Teacher and CE coordinators will be notified.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If after notification, the teacher is still under non-compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Second offense: Formal written notification is sent to the High School principal\/building level supervisor.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If after notifying administration the teacher is still found in noncompliance,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Last offense: The teacher will not be reappointed as CE faculty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-general-dates\">General Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fall Semester:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August 30: Rosters must be verified by NOON on this day<br>\nNovember 15: Last day to withdraw from all classes<br>\nDecember 3 Grade books will open<br>\nJanuary 15  Grade books will close and all grades must be entered<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Semester:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>February 1 Rosters must be verified by NOON on this day.<br>\nApril 15 Last day to withdraw from all classes.<br>\nMay 6 Grade books will open.<br>\nJune 15 Grade books will close and all grades must be entered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: It is suggested that teachers check their BOSS rosters a few times each semester to ensure the rosters remain correct. This is a great way to get an early start on your college education!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-about-the-concurrent-enrollment-program\"> About the Concurrent Enrollment Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The UA Little Rock Concurrent Enrollment Program is a fully accredited program by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and provides the opportunity for high school students to earn college and high school credit simultaneously. Students who complete the class earn credits that count toward high school graduation as well as college credit for the course. Students from participating high schools are allowed to enroll during the Fall and Spring semester. Through the program, qualified students in <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/high-school-partners\/\">participating high schools<\/a> must be accepted to UA Little Rock’s concurrent enrollment program to receive concurrent credit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course materials, assignments and grading standards used in the courses must meet the same standards as regular UA Little Rock courses. If you want to get a head start on your college career, this program may give you the advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled at partnering high schools may be eligible if they meet the academic requirements for admission to UA Little Rock. Your Workday account is a one stop shop for access to your account. The primary concern of the student should be to utilize the CE program and the courses offered to its full potential. They are the advocates and drivers behind quality instructors and enrollment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-responsibilities\">Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support and encourage teachers to attend the UA Little Rock Concurrent Enrollment professional development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utilize the UA Little Rock Concurrent Enrollment webpage for professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share success stories about Concurrent Enrollment and what it does for the community, school, and most importantly the students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a link to <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/earlycredit\/\">Concurrent Enrollment<\/a> on the school\u2019s website for easy access to teachers, students, and parents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow and encourage collaboration between UA Little Rock faculty and high school faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uphold the guidelines set forth in the MOU.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage student awareness of course transfer possibilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faculty-approval-denial\">Faculty Approval\/Denial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Evaluate faculty credentials for qualifying faculty members.\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must hold a master\u2019s degree in the specified discipline for the courses requested, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must hold a master\u2019s degree in any area with an additional 18 or more graduate hours in the specific discipline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send any potential qualifying teacher transcripts to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScw19oDd6kqTTf0a-ovHHJTsuKxhXpLvl8tK_DlZNlbcxLp0Q\/viewform\">University CE Director Charnley Conway<\/a> with the following:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A list of courses your high school would like to offer associated with specific teachers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A current curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The university CE coordinator vets the credentials before sending them to the department chairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once faculty is approved or denied, the CE coordinator will communicate the decision to the high school coordinator then informs the high school teacher and administrator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-course-approval\">Course Approval<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Decide how many sections of each approved course are needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Send a course syllabus for each approved course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-courses-offered-through-concurrent-enrollment\">Courses Offered Through Concurrent Enrollment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As with any Concurrent Enrollment offering, courses must have a qualified and \u00a0UA Little Rock approved instructor. If you think your institution has teachers to fill any of these courses and would like to expand your Concurrent Enrollment course list, please send the information and the desired courses to <a href=\"mailto:cqconway@ualr.edu\">cqconway@ualr.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your institution wishes to offer a course, has a qualified teacher, and if that course is offered as a freshman or sophomore level course at UA Little Rock, there is no harm in asking that it be added to your course list. The high school administration or high school CE coordinator expresses the initial interest for a teacher\u2019s approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-steps-for-teachers-approval-and-appointment\">Steps for Teachers’ Approval and Appointment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>High schools express interest in offering concurrent enrollment and send qualifying documents for the teachers they would like to teach the courses to the university\u2019s CE coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Qualifying documents include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A current r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate transcripts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Syllabus for desired course that reflects University learning outcomes and rigor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After reviewing the documents to ensure the teacher meets CE qualifications, the CE coordinator sends them to the University department chairperson.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The department chairperson reviews the documents to make sure it aligns with university guidelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department chairs send the university CE coordinator their final approval\/disapproval with rationale via email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The university CE coordinator communicates the decision to the high school coordinator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The high school coordinator communicates the decision to the teacher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once teachers are approved, they are sent a \u201cguest faculty form\u201d to complete and return to their high school CE coordinator. Although the faculty member is not hired through the standard hiring process, he\/she is still treated as an extension of UA Little Rock’s adjunct faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CE faculty member\u2019s role is to provide quality instruction on a collegiate level to the students he\/she serves.
