EARTHtalk! Lecture Series

The EARTHtalk! Lecture Series is sponsored by the Department of Earth Sciences at UA Little Rock. These lectures aim to promote scientific thinking and discovery about Earth-related topics. Lectures are always free and open to the public, and occur on the third Wednesday of the month in the fall (Sep-Nov) and spring (Feb-Apr).

We partner with University Television to record these lectures, with many previous lectures available at University Television. More information about previous lectures can be found below.

Our Next Speaker

Glen Hooks
Director, Arkansas Sierra Club

“The Clean Energy Revolution: It’s All Happening”
When: Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 at 6 pm
Where: EIT Auditorium at UALR

“Think solar energy and wind power are just pipe dreams for hippies and liberals? Think again. Glen Hooks, Director of the Arkansas Sierra Club, details how the United States–Arkansas included–is swiftly moving away from dirty fossil fuels and toward clean energy. Why is this happening across the country? The varied reasons may surprise you!”

Glen Hooks is the Director of the Arkansas Sierra Club, and a lifelong Arkansan. Prior to joining the national Sierra Club staff in 2003, Glen worked as an attorney in private and public practice, as Director of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, as a political campaign manager for various candidates and causes, and as a lobbyist for groups like the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. Glen is a graduate of Hendrix College and the UALR School of Law, and the father of the two greatest sons in the history of sons.
