This ensures that course content and student records that may needed beyond the university&#8217;s retention schedule are preserved in the faculty member&#8217;s personal records. Course archives can be generated by the course instructor from within the course itself. The .zip file generated by the Export\/Archive process can be saved to the faculty member&#8217;s personal storage and records contained within the .zip file can be later accessed by importing into a blank Blackboard course shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more: <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Learn\/Instructor\/Original\/Course_Content\/Reuse_Content\/Export_and_Archive_Courses\">Export and Archive a Course<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-artifact-collection-for-assessment\">Artifact Collection for Assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Records of student work used for assessment and accreditation can be exported from the course for storage and analysis. Academy for Online Teaching Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>Summer Academy for Online Teaching Excellence<\/strong> affords UA Little Rock faculty an opportunity for hands-on and asynchronous professional development geared towards creating engaging instructional content and meaningful learning experiences for traditional, hybrid, and online courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Facilitated by <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/star\/2017\/05\/05\/daryl-tate-edd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Daryl Tate<\/a>, Faculty Coordinator, and the STaR Instructional Design team, Summer Academy is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with other online instructors as well as gain insight and research-based best practices for developing and creating innovative online content.<br>\nThe Summer Academy consists of three components, the Summer Workshop in June, the Fall Feedback Luncheon in November, and the Spring Faculty Showcase in The following information is a quick overview of this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, Blackboard shells are available for all courses scheduled in Banner to be taught in the upcoming semester. A unique shell is available for each section of a course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once created, the blank shells must be assigned content and made available for students. You can find more information about getting started each semester with your course shells by clicking on the Bb Support Tab when you login to Blackboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-are-shells-created\">How are shells created?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Course shells for the upcoming semester will be automatically created prior to the start of the semester. Courses added to the schedule after the initial creation of course shells will appear in Blackboard once the course has been added to Banner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any course that is cancelled in Banner will be disabled in Blackboard and will no longer be available to any user enrolled in the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-are-users-enrolled-in-courses\">How are users enrolled in courses?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollments are managed automatically, so instructors will have to be assigned to a course in Banner to be able to access its shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must be registered for a course to be able to access its Blackboard shell. Students who register for a course after the first day of the semester will be added to their Blackboard shells once the registration is reflected in Banner and the course enrollment script updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-when-can-users-access-the-course\">When can users access the course?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors will have immediate access to course shells once the shells have been created. The blank shell will appear on the instructor&#8217;s course listing in Blackboard, where they may create course content, assign content from a previous semester&#8217;s shell, or copy from a development shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though students will appear in the course shell&#8217;s roster, access to the course will be restricted until the first day of the semester. Undergoing review every few years, the rubric is based on research, best practices and sound instructional design principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-are-the-benefits\">What are the benefits?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty benefit from the use of a tested rubric to guide their online course development process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By undergoing a quality matters review of their course whether officially or not, faculty can improve their course and gain additional skills for designing and administering a course in Blackboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The peer-review process means faculty work with one another across institutions to understand best practices and design principles related to online and blended courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A variety of workshops focused on online instruction and course design provide opportunities to build faculty excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-can-i-get-involved\">How can I get involved?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>eLearning&#8217;s instructional design team has developed resources to support the application of the rubric and the meeting of QM standards. We have internal university <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/elearning\/online-course-design-quality-assurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Online Course Design Quality Assurance Standards<\/a> that are informed by nationally recognized Quality Matters and SUNY review standards. Instructional Designers are experienced professionals in online course design using best practices who work collaboratively with faculty during course design reviews. Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) is included as part of the quality assurance standards for online courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The website below is designed to provide transparency in the quality assurance course review process as well as establish how our university is in compliance with specific changes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-34\/subtitle-B\/chapter-VI\/part-600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Regulation C.F.R. \u00a7600.2 as of July 1, 2021<\/a>. &nbsp;In 2018, the Faculty Senate approved <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/policy\/home\/facstaff\/course-syllabus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Syllabus, Office Hours, and Regular and Substantive Contact Policy 404.8<\/a>. Starting in fall 2020, the Office of the Provost required all new programs joining the Online Campus to have each course meet quality assurance standards and to work with eLearning toward that end. Beginning fall 2022, a rotation of reviews will work with other Online Campus programs to collaboratively meet quality assurance silver standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This website will be updated regularly with the current status of course reviews as well as the RSI level for each academic program (approved by the respective department\/school). Each RSI level indicates the quality of interaction expected for all online courses within a specific program. <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/elearning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/174\/2023\/08\/RSI.png\">RSI Levels range from Level 1 Correspondence Education Course, to Level 4 Distance Education The purpose of these two courses is to introduce new and returning faculty to best practices in online course design and delivery, and provide an opportunity for them to practice the skills and concepts they learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No prerequisites required to sign-up for the training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign-up for training at any time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-design\">Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Design training consists of four modules with a total of seven lessons. The training will be conducted using the Blackboard learning management system, is 100% online, and asynchronous. After all module activities have been completed, participants will earn a badge for each module and receive a Certificate of Completion for the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review various components of course design; and outline and the various components of a course to follow alignment.&nbsp;(Unit 1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize the different types of intellectual property and locate materials that can be used within a course. (Unit 2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe various tools that can be used in building a course and select a tool to use in their own course creation. (Unit 3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and discuss the importance of accessibility and universal design for learning (UDL), and apply these concepts to their own course. Specifically, our team collaboratively develops and implements strategies for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining these specific populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ua-little-rock-online-enrollment-and-demographics\">UA Little Rock Online Enrollment and Demographics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In June 2015, UA Little Rock Online launched with 10 degree and certificate programs and 150 students in its first fall term. As of Spring 2021, our fully online programs have grown to <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/elearning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/174\/2022\/07\/CurrentUALR-OnlineCampusPrograms_20220725.pdf\">69 approved degrees, certificates, and minors<\/a>, and our student population is over 1,800 strong. Once processed, if provisional approval is granted by the Office of the Provost, then the normal curriculum process (which has both internal and off-campus components) will start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is committed to ensuring faculty excellence and student success in our online courses. As part of that commitment, we have established research-based course design standards. Informed by nationally recognized Quality Matters and SUNY review standards, the <strong>UA Little Rock Online Course Design Quality Assurance Standards<\/strong> provide course design guidance to faculty and is the official methodology for certifying the quality of online courses taught at the University. This program aims to contribute to faculty excellence, facilitate student success, and provide a continuous improvement process for high-quality online courses. Talented faculty provide online programming with real-world experience in their disciplines, as well as excellent teaching and research backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mission\">Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of eLearning is to ensure the academic excellence of online education at UA Little Rock in a manner that maximizes an environment of user-friendly education and universal inclusion, thus providing online students with an engaging learning experience. eLearning provides optimal functionality in support of units, faculty, contracts, and assessment to ensure logistics are properly carried out. Our mission requires intensive focus on maintaining current online programming and promoting the development of future online programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-core-values-and-functions\">Core Values and Functions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Academic Excellence<\/strong><br>\nWe make sure UA Little Rock faculty have access the digital tools and methods they need to deliver their online coursework effectively and the support to employ high-quality methods of instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optimal Functionality<\/strong><br>\nOur staff administer payments as well as assess processes and contracts for internal and external accounts and services required for online education at UA Little Rock. In collaboration with our campus partners, we also conduct forecast analysis and identify opportunities to support academic and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accessibility and Innovation<\/strong><br>\nWe also serve as the administrative unit for the university&#8217;s brand of fully online degree and certificate programs, UA Little Rock Online, and partner to Scholarly Technology and Resources (STaR) to help facilitate training, support and innovation in online instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Universal Inclusion<\/strong><br>\nWe strive to create a community of online learners that benefit from the resources UA Little Rock offers.
