Payroll looks to continue success of electronic W-2s

In a continuing commitment to environmental sustainability, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock offered employees the opportunity to sign up for electronic W-2s, beginning with year 2012 W-2s. Of all active employees, 45 percent consented to receive their W-2s electronically last year. As we approach the end of the year, the Payroll Office is again encouraging employees to consent to receive their W-2s electronically.

Why should you elect to receive your W-2 electronically?

FASTER. No need to wait for your W-2 to arrive in the mail or worry about mail delivery delays. As soon as the W-2s are processed, they will be available to you online!

SAFER. The safety of this confidential document is protected on UALR’s secure website, BOSS, with privacy assured by your user ID and password. This is much more secure than a paper W-2 that is mailed to you.

ACCESSIBLE. You will have access to your W-2s on BOSS anytime and anywhere you have access to the Internet. Many companies are using the electronic method to deliver their W-2s to their employees. The electronic W-2 is acceptable and meets all IRS guidelines.

GREEN. This is one easy step you can take to help support the health of our environment and sustainability of UALR!

If you have not already consented, you can follow these simple steps to consent to receive your W-2 (and future W-2s) electronically:

  1. Log into BOSS (https://boss.ualr.edu)
  2. Click “Employee” (gray tab at the top of page) or the “Employee Services” link
  3. Click “Tax Forms”
  4. Click “Electronic W-2 Consent”
  5. Read the consent then select the “My Choice” box
  6. Click the “Submit” button
  7. Click Exit (upper-right corner; no confirmation will be displayed)

The success of the electronic delivery option has been cost-effective for the university and the Payroll Office is hoping to expand employee participation for this and future years.

If you have any questions, or need assistance with the consent process, please feel free to contact the Payroll Office at 501-916-3136 or payroll@ualr.edu.
