The Dr. Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy (CWDSA)

$0.00

The Dr. Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy (CWDSA) aims to improve the academic achievement of students who are at risk due to socioeconomic disadvantages or other factors through its Saturday Academy and Summer Bridge program.

The CWDSA Saturday Academy is for students of the Pulaski County Special School District, the Little Rock School District, and the North Little Rock School District to help them reach high school graduation, prepare for the ACT, and equip them for college. Occurring one Saturday a month for 9th through 12th graders during the school year, the Saturday Academy uses innovative approaches to improve math, reading, and composition skills.

The CWDSA Summer Bridge program is targeted toward students of the Pulaski County Special School District and is for those who seek an intensive residential three-week experience to mitigate the need for remediation, increase confidence, and improve college attendance. Through engaging academic instruction, mentoring, and support, students make huge leaps in passing scores in reading, math, and composition by the time they finish.  The students are eligible for a $2,500 college scholarship renewable for four years upon graduation if they choose to attend UALR or Philander Smith College.

Your gift ensures the continued success of these programs by providing the dedicated, qualified staff of educators the resources they need to continue to be effective, so that the next generation of students enter college fully prepared.
