National Influenza Vaccination Week, December 1 – 7, focuses on the importance of receiving an annual flu vaccination. Flu vaccination has many important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations. If you haven’t received your flu shot this year, please call Health Services at 501-569-3188 to schedule an appointment. Remember, the flu vaccine takes approximately two weeks after administration to provide protection. No one wants to be sick over the holiday season, so get your shot now!
If you have health insurance, please bring your insurance card with you. Health Services will make a copy and bill insurance on your behalf. Most insurance companies cover 100% of the cost of flu vaccines with no co-pay, co-insurance, or any out-of-pocket expense to you. Those without insurance will receive the vaccine free of cost as well.
Remember, the single best way to protect yourself and others against the flu is to get vaccinated.
