Welcome to the History Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. History faculty and staff are ready to help you reach and surpass your academic goals. Our faculty specialties are far ranging, both historically and geographically. From Ancient Greece to the American Civil Rights Movement, from Arkansas to China, we have courses and distinguished faculty to prepare you for the next stage of your life.

Whether pursuing a bachelor’s degree in History or History and Secondary Education or your Public History Master’s degree, you will leave UALR History with much more than a degree. The transferable skills of performing research, assessing conflicting interpretations and evidence, and writing effectively and persuasively are a few of the assets you will build during your time with UALR History. You will leave with a broadened awareness of the world and its patterns and trends of human phenomenon through time. To put it simply, you’ll better understand the world and how it works and have the skills to convey this to others.

What employers want are people with the flexibility to tackle complex problems by their ability to research, identify, assess and explain. Whether it’s clerking at a law firm, developing the public programs at a museum, serving as a public administrator, or doing historical research for a corporate client, your education and training from UALR history can be your foundation for greatness. Come join us!
