Since 1989, the Data Management Association has annually recognized individuals who make significant contributions in disciplines related to managing data as a valuable resource. Recipients are awarded based on academic, government, professional, or community achievements. This June, at the 2010 Enterprise Data World conference sponsored by DAMA, Dr. Elizabeth Pierce, Chair of the UALR Information Science Department, was awarded the DAMA Academic Achievement Award for her work in forming the UALR Information Quality program.
To date, the DAMA Award Hall of Fame boasts two UALR faculty recipients. Dr. John Talburt, Coordinator of the UALR Information Quality Graduate Program, was also awarded the DAMA Academic Award in 2008. Both award recipients continue to make strides within the world of data management, and the UALR community looks forward to their continued success.
