The Banner 8 system that manages Human Resources, Finance, and Student Information systems for UA Little Rock will be upgraded to the latest version on November 18, 2018.
Ellucian, the software vendor for Banner, has replaced the current Oracle, form-based platform with a new yet familiar user interface (built on a modern web-based architecture). The underlying database structure will not change, but new features and functionality will be available.
The impact to users will be minimal as forms used today in Banner 8 can still be retrieved with their seven-character Form names (e.g. SPAIDEN, FGIBAVL, NBAPBUD).
Familiar Banner fields, jobs and processes will not be impacted, and the user’s security access to these functions will also remain the same.
Some new features include:
- A consistent, modernized look across Banner Pages (formerly referred to as forms)
- An easy to use, intuitive user interface
- Updated administrative screens
- Improved scheduling and registration tools
- Modern, scalable architecture that is browser-independent
To engage all areas across campus in the Banner 9 go-live process, committees have been formed that include representation from Human Resources, Finance, Student, and Faculty areas along with Leadership oversight.
