Whether at school, home, or using our mobile devices, every time we connect to the internet we make choices that affect our cybersecurity. We are all aware of the increasingly frequent reports in the national news media that describe yet another cyber attack involving members of the public, government, law enforcement, and the private sector. Whenever we log onto the internet, we are exposed to risks from cyber criminals who carry out identity theft, fraud, and harassment.
Since 2004, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) has been observed each October in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across our nation. The 2020 theme is Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart. NCSAM is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance.
UA Little Rock IT Services supports NCSAM and is dedicated to increasing awareness throughout our campus community regarding the importance of practicing cybersecurity everyday. Students and staff members are encouraged to become more mindful of the risks associated with using the internet and learn how to protect themselves from cyber attacks. By following the security best practices outlined via the links below, we can protect our identity and privacy while reducing our liabilities.
