Students and employees are also automatically assigned these accounts with default access to primary services:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/support\/log-in\/?selection=2\">NetID<\/a>: Used to log into the Wi-Fi network, G Suite apps (Mail, Calendar, Docs), Blackboard, and other web applications<\/li>\n<li>Windows (Active Directory): Used to log into desktop and lab computers and Office 365<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prior to using newly-created accounts for the first time, you must <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/access\/passwords\/\">set a strong password on each account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"boxed\" style=\"background: none;padding: 21px 21px 0px 21px;margin-bottom: 21px\">\n<h3>Early account creation<\/h3>\n<p>Accounts are automatically created upon the completion of an admission or hiring process. If you need access to your accounts before these processes are expected to be complete, you may submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/248\/2011\/02\/network_system_access_20140609.pdf\">Network and Systems Account Request<\/a> to have the account created early.<\/p>\n<h3>Sponsored accounts<\/h3>\n<p>University departments may submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/248\/2011\/02\/network_system_access_20140609.pdf\">Network and Systems Account Request<\/a> to sponsor the creation of an account for anyone who would not normally be granted one. Common examples include a visiting professor or a specific vendor technician. Each account must be tied to an individual; shared vendor accounts are not allowed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Do you need access to an application or service?<\/h2>\n<p>Access to primary services such as email, Blackboard, BOSS, and the campus networks are granted by default to active students and employees. Special access to other university systems may require additional authorization. Example services include Banner, Argos, File Shares, and many more.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: auto;margin: 0 auto 21px\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>Managers may request access to any number of applications and services for their employees entering new positions. This information is important for students, faculty,&nbsp;and staff to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scope\">Scope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a violation of the university\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/policies\/\">Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy<\/a> for any user to commit copyright infringement using university resources, including any campus or residence hall networks. Violations may result in disciplinary sanctions as well as the suspension or revocation of the user\u2019s access to university resources or networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-policy\">Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: The information below is a summary, for the full policy please visit review the full<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/policy\/home\/admin\/patent-and-copyright\/\">Patent and Copyright Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under Section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). Copyright owners have exclusive rights of reproduction, adaptation, publication, performance, and display. Infringement includes the reproduction or distribution of a copyrighted work in the following ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Downloading, uploading, sharing, or posting parts of a copyrighted work without authority<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using copyrighted content on a peer-to-peer network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Potential Consequences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Downloading or uploading copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Willful copyright infringement can result in criminal penalties including imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copyright infringement can also result in civil judgments. Anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement can be ordered to pay damages, with fines ranging from $750 to $30,000 per work infringed. For \u201cwillful\u201d infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can also assess costs and attorneys\u2019 fees (Title 17, United States Code, Sections 504, 505).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many alternatives to sharing and downloading content which avoid civil and criminal risk. video conferencing helps the university expand traditional classrooms to meet the growing needs of learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers of fully-online, hybrid, and flexible classrooms can automatically leverage the campus Zoom licensing to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/201362413-Scheduling-meetings\">schedule unlimited video meetings<\/a> to up to 300 participants and store session recordings with automatic audio transcription for later viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that any saved recordings older than 2 years are subject to automatic deletion from the UA Little Rock\u2019s university account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/205347605-Managing-and-sharing-cloud-recordings\">Click here<\/a> to review instructions for downloading and saving your recorded Zoom events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-getting-started\">Getting Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Switching Accounts:<\/strong> If you have already signed up for Zoom with your university email address, logging in to Zoom via SSO may prompt you to switch to the university-owned Zoom account. Switching to the university account will not impact scheduled meetings or existing recordings, however it is recommended that you download a backup copy of all recordings prior to switching accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/pricing\">paid license on your existing account<\/a>, consult with your <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/about\/techsupport\/\">departmental support technician<\/a> before switching accounts. You may want to postpone switching to the university license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these instructions to log into a university-licensed Zoom account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-website\">Website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.ualr.edu\/\">zoom.ualr.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Sign in button.<br><br><em>You may be prompted to <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/netid\/\">log in with your NetID account<\/a>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-desktop-client\">Desktop client<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Zoom desktop client can be <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/download\">downloaded and installed<\/a> on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a domain-joined Windows workstation, you may <a href=\"http:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/software\">install Zoom via the software management service<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the Zoom client.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Sign In button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Sign In with SSO button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Sign In with SSO screen will appear, prompting you to enter your company domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter ualr-edu in the company domain field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternatively, select the \u201cI don\u2019t know the company domain\u201d link and enter your university email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Continue button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A web browser window will appear, prompting you to log in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in with <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/itservices\/netid\/\">your university NetID account<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If prompted, select the Open zoom.us button to return to the Zoom client.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure you are getting the most out of your Zoom experience by reviewing <a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/206618765-Zoom-video-tutorials\">Zoom video tutorials<\/a> about basic Zoom features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-already-have-a-zoom-account\">Already have a Zoom account?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you log in for the first time, you might be prompted to switch your current account to the new, university-owned account. For more detailed instructions and how-to articles, <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/TECHSUPPORT\/pages\/6096917387\/Wireless+Network\">visit the Wi-Fi support site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four distinct Wi-Fi networks. These are the <strong>only<\/strong> official UA Little Rock Wi-Fi networks available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UALR-WiFi<\/strong>\u00a0is the highest security, best, and fastest connectivity. UALR-WiFi is for laptops, phones, tablets, and all computing devices that understand 802.1x protocols. Very important: If at all possible, always use UALR-WiFi for all of your Wi-Fi connections at UA Little Rock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UALR-Device<\/strong> is only for endpoints that cannot connect with a login and password to UALR-WiFi. Never join a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer to UALR-Device. Never join a university owned endpoint to UALR-Device using a personal account. Contact your unit IT Manager to register university owned devices to UALR-Device. There is no privacy on the UALR-Device Wi-Fi network. If at all possible, always use UALR-WiFi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UALR-Guest<\/strong> is only for people without a @ualr.edu email account. UALR-Guest is slower, filtered, limited-access, and has no security or encryption. Students &amp; employees may not use UALR-Guest. A working email address and full legal name is required for registration and use of this guest Wi-Fi network for each individual. Incomplete and\/or inaccurate registration information will result in no guest Wi-Fi access. All attempts to obfuscate, hide, or use a fake name while registering to use UALR-Guest will result in suspension of the guest Wi-Fi service. Use of UALR-Guest requires agreement to the official <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/policy\/home\/admin\/information-technology-it-acceptable-use-policy\/\">Acceptable Use Policy<\/a> (AUP). If you fail to follow the terms listed in the AUP, you and your devices may be prevented from using any of the UA Little Rock networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>eduroam<\/strong> Wi-Fi network is only for visitors from other colleges and universities around the country and world. When you travel, you can securely connect for free at more than 10,000 roaming locations around the world using your @ualr.edu login. For more information about Eduroam, contact&nbsp;UA Little Rock IT Services&nbsp;or visit&nbsp;eduroam.us<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-connecting-to-ualr-wifi\">Connecting to UALR-WiFi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect to the UALR-WiFi network using laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other compatible wireless devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On your wireless-enabled device, select UALR-WiFi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When prompted enter your full @ualr.edu email address as your username and its current password to log in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disable or turn-off <em>MAC Address Privacy<\/em> \/ <em>Random MAC Address<\/em> on your device otherwise the UALR-WiFi will not work on your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure when you connect to UALR-WiFi that all of your device&#8217;s network settings and DNS are set to <em>Dynamic<\/em> and <em>DHCP<\/em> or the UALR-WiFi cannot work for your device.<br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/TECHSUPPORT\/pages\/6096917387\/Wireless+Network\">View detailed instructions for UALR-WiFi<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-connecting-to-ualr-device\">Connecting to UALR-Device<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect to the UALR-Device network:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Never add a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer to UALR-Device. It will be deleted from the device registry. UALR-Device is not a private network. Only use UALR-WiFi unless the device is not sophisticated enough to join UALR-WiFi. UALR-Device is only for devices incapable of joining UALR-WiFi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On a computer with a web browser, visit the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/device.ualr.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">device registration site<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong>(<strong>device.ualr.edu<\/strong>) and login with your full @ualr.edu email address. When you login, you <strong>must include the entire email address including the @ualr.edu <\/strong>when you login or your device will not work and it will be deleted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you successfully login, click <strong>Add New Device<\/strong>&nbsp;at the bottom of the page and type-in the specific MAC Address of your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must type-in the real physical MAC address of the device. Registering a fake, rotating, and\/or any obfuscation of the actual physical MAC Address of an endpoint will result in the deletion of the device and suspension of that device from all university networks. You are responsible for all network activity related to registered devices under your username. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disable and\/or turn-off MAC Address Privacy or Random MAC Address on your device otherwise the UALR-Device will not work for your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure when you connect a registered device to UALR-Device that all of its network settings and DNS are set to&nbsp;<strong>Dynamic&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>DHCP&nbsp;<\/strong>or the the device will not function on UALR-Device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When joining&nbsp;an endpoint to the <strong>UALR-Device<\/strong>&nbsp;Wi-Fi network, you must use the latest pre-shared key as the password:&nbsp;<strong>GoTrojans!2026<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never add a university owned endpoint to <strong>UALR-Device<\/strong> using your personal login. University owned devices must be registered by your unit IT Manager with a special account. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All MAC Addresses added to your registration have an expiration date. Devices will stop working when they expire. Re-register expired MAC addresses that using the current pre-shared key (see Step 5 above for the current pre-shared key). <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ualr.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/TECHSUPPORT\/pages\/6096917387\/Wireless+Network\">View detailed instructions for UALR-Device<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-connecting-to-ualr-guest\">Connecting to UALR-Guest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect to the UALR-Guest network using laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other compatible wireless devices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>UALR-Guest is only for people without a @ualr.edu email account. UALR-Guest is slower, filtered, limited-access, and has no security, and no encryption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People with @ualr.edu accounts (current students, faculty, and staff) may not use UALR-Guest Wi-Fi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On your Wi-Fi-enabled device, select the UALR-Guest wireless network.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for the web browser on your device to open up, or open a web browser on your device and navigate to Google.com to get the captive web portal to display the login page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>Register Here<\/em> on the captive portal web page to create a new guest account using your non @ualr.edu email address and your phone number. Your phone must be able to receive SMS \/ text messages to use UALR-Guest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After you complete your registration, the system will send your phone a SMS text message code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return to the UALR-Guest login screen and enter your e-mail address as your username and enter the SMS \/ text code you received on your phone as your password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UALR-Guest Wi-Fi access is limited access, filtered, and for external Internet access.
