New Student Orientation 2012 Planned

The UALR William H. Bowen School of Law will welcome a new first-year class Sunday, Aug. 19, for the beginning of the three-day new student orientation prior to the Fall 2012 academic semester.

During the annual orientation event, both part-time and full-time students entering law school will be busy. Students should arrive between 3 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, to check in for the evening’s events. The new law students will first attend the Dean’s Reception, which will include a welcome speech by Interim Dean Paula Casey and welcomes from both the Arkansas Bar Association and the Pulaski County Bar Association.

Other notable events during this three-day orientation will include lectures from individuals such as the Honorable Annabelle Imber Tuck and other distinguished faculty members and administrators, and sample classes in areas of study such as Constitutional Law, which will be taught by Dean Emeritus John DiPippa.

The first day of orientation is open to both full-time and part-time student and their families and friends. The following is a schedule of events for that day:

3 – 5:30 p.m.

New Student Check-in, Registration and Photos – Stern Gallery, first floor

4:30 – 5:40 p.m.

Dean’s Reception – UALR/Pulaski County Law Library, first floor

5:45 – 6 p.m.

Welcome from the Dean – Interim Dean Paula Casey – Friday Courtroom, Room 114

Introduction of Faculty – Associate Dean Terri Beiner

6 – 6:15 p.m.

Welcome from the Arkansas Bar Association and the Pulaski County Bar Association

6:15 – 7 p.m.

Oath of Professionalism and Remarks – The Honorable Annabelle Imber Tuck

Pinning Ceremony

7 – 7:15 p.m.

Break

7:15 – 8:30 p.m.
