We know there has been some concern about access to library resources in the face of university budget cuts. The Ottenheimer Library’s share of cuts ($223,000) includes a 13% reduction in the funds available to purchase materials. The library’s Collections and Acquisitions team is managing this reduction by reviewing and analyzing usage statistics and cost-per-use data for its journal and database subscriptions. Based on this review and analysis, and consideration of curriculum and research needs to support student success and faculty research, Ottenheimer has canceled several databases, electronic journal packages, and print journals.
Access to the canceled subscriptions will continue through December 2018. Starting in January 2019, titles to which the library no longer subscribes may be requested through interlibrary loan.
Reduced funding is obviously a major concern for us, but we are determined to continue striving to meet the teaching and research needs of the University. To this end, we invite faculty who are library liaisons to submit requests for high priority one-time purchases. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
